Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design systems, guardrails, and automation enabling secure, scalable cloud infrastructure. You will help build cloud security posture, zero trust initiatives, and governance across Mercury's AWS environment.

The role collaborates with across the enterprise to address security, privacy, and compliance challenges, ensuring resilience while maintaining engineering velocity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud security, networking, information security, or related fields.
• Strong desire to learn and grow with a proven track record.
• Familiarity with standard security frameworks and privacy regulations (NIST CSF, FFIEC, SOX, SOC2, GLBA, ISO27018, PCI-DSS, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Fundamental understanding of security practices, troubleshooting, attack vectors, and customer support.
• Familiarity with information as code (IaC) tooling.
• AWS certifications are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Define and build cloud security posture with emphasis on resilience and zero trust concepts.
• Collaborate with governance, risk, and compliance in cloud engineering contexts.
• Improve reliability and security of Mercury's cloud infrastructure with other teams.
• Automate cloud security controls to minimize threats, vulnerabilities, and risk.
• Support remote access challenges in a remote-first environment across teams.
• Address security concerns across Mercury's cloud with stakeholders.
