Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a Kubernetes Platform Engineer in Fort Worth, TX to build and manage scalable Kubernetes infrastructure. You’ll drive infrastructure as code with Terraform, Python, and GitHub Actions, oversee cluster lifecycles, and ensure security and observability across on‑prem and cloud environments.

You will collaborate with Risk, Security, and Compliance teams, document architectural patterns, and support incident response to maintain platform reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Kubernetes and platform engineering experience required.
• A strong understanding of DevOps and best practices.
• 3 years of experience as software, platform or infrastructure engineer.

Responsibilities

• Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform, Python, and GitHub Actions to manage Kubernetes.
• Manage lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades and best practices.
• Document solutions, patterns, and best practices for Kubernetes environments.
• Collaborate with Risk, Security, and Compliance to implement security policies on clusters.
• Implement observability and monitoring across Kubernetes and ensure cost efficiency.
• Set up networking and troubleshoot Kubernetes resource issues.
• Work with internal teams to optimize Kubernetes usage and reliability.
• Participate in incident response and on-call support for platform reliability.
