Job summary

Scale AI seeks a Senior Network Engineer to define a single, secure networking model across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including customer deployments. You will own VPC design, VPNs, and edge configurations, while guiding traffic flow and platform boundaries with data-driven decisions.

You’ll lead the Kubernetes traffic layer (Istio/Envoy) and implement a portable NetworkPolicy contract across environments, aligning with security and compliance needs for regulated customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of network engineering experience in production cloud networks.
• Deep cloud networking expertise on AWS, Azure, or GCP with VPC, peering, and Private connectivity.
• Kubernetes networking depth: CNI, ingress, NetworkPolicy, Istio/Envoy.
• Strong fundamentals in TCP/IP, BGP, routing, firewalls, VPNs, TLS.
• Experience with edge/CDN platforms like Cloudflare.
• Defined a network standard or reference architecture adopted by teams.

Responsibilities

• Own network architecture for the Scale GP platform across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Design and review VPCs, peering, DNS, load balancing, and edge configurations.
• Drive VPN, routing, ingress/egress, and traffic-flow decisions with data-backed judgments.
• Evaluate proposed networking solutions in cross-functional reviews and constrain platform boundaries.
• Define standard connectivity between Scale's control plane and customer data planes (PrivateLink, VPN, etc.).
• Own the customer-boundary delivery blueprint, CI/CD mirroring, artifact gates, and private registries.
• Own engineer access into customer and internal environments, replacing ad-hoc tunnels with auditable solutions.
• Own Kubernetes traffic layer: Istio/Envoy, per-cloud CNI, and NetworkPolicy contracts.
• Reduce rework by preventing one-off implementations from becoming long-term burdens.
• Collaborate with security on zero-trust, segmentation, and compliance in regulated environments.
• Debug complex connectivity and latency across hybrid/multi-cloud deployments.
• Document network architecture, standards, and runbooks for cross-team confidence.
