Job summary

PayPal is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of its global data platforms. You will lead infrastructure transformations, architect petabyte-scale operational systems, and optimize OLTP and analytics environments.

You will design, deploy, and automate cloud-native database systems across multi-clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure) and drive operational excellence with IaC and AI-driven optimization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience with databases and cloud platforms.
• Proficiency in BigTable, Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, BigQuery, and Kubernetes.
• Strong programming in Python and SQL; Bash, Java, or Scala familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage high-performance database clusters.
• Architect multi-cloud database solutions across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Build IaC frameworks using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Packer.
• Develop observability and alerting with Grafana, Datadog, and Prometheus.
