Job summary

Vertex Software, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer to shape how the Vertex platform is built, tested, packaged, and delivered across hosted SaaS and customer-owned clouds.

You will own infrastructure, CI/CD, and deployment patterns, collaborating with customers and engineering teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable operations. The role emphasizes hands-on coding in Python/Go and deep AWS expertise, with remote work options nationwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, DevOps, SRE, or platform roles.
• Deep AWS experience across compute, networking, IAM, and managed data services.
• Strong infrastructure as code with CDK and CloudFormation.
• Proven experience designing and owning CI/CD pipelines for production systems.
• Strong Python and/or Go development; able to read Scala/Java/C++.
• Experience operating high-scale, high-availability environments with monitoring and incident response.
• Practical use of AI-assisted coding tools in development workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable with customer tech teams.
• Experience working remotely as part of a distributed engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain infrastructure as code patterns to deploy Vertex in customer-owned cloud accounts and the SaaS environment.
• Own CI/CD pipelines for build, test, security scanning, artifact publishing, and release across a complex codebase.
• Improve build performance and reliability for Scala/JVM and C++ components.
• Operate and scale containerized services on AWS (ECS Fargate, MSK, RDS/Aurora, Redis, OpenSearch, S3).
• Contribute changes to Vertex service code to improve deployability, configuration, resilience, and observability.
• Build automation tooling in Python and/or Go.
• Use AI-assisted tools for development, code review, testing, and incident investigations with responsible adoption.
• Implement and maintain security controls in the delivery pipeline, including code coverage and scans.
• Support customer deployments and upgrades; troubleshoot environment-specific issues and constraints.
• Produce documentation of deployment architecture, upgrade procedures, and security posture.
