POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS). The AWS Engineer will focus on building and supporting scalable, secure, and highly available networking, storage, and compute services to meet the organization’s infrastructure needs. A key aspect of this role is embedding security by design principles into all infrastructure solutions to ensure compliance, resilience, and protection of organizational data. This is a remote position (US). #LI-Remote
- Design, deploy, and manage AWS-based infrastructure including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, network gateways, load balancing, firewalls.
- Implement and maintain scalable storage solutions using AWS services such as S3, EBS, and EFS.
- Provision and manage compute resources using EC2, Auto Scaling Groups, and Load Balancers.
- Embed security by design into all infrastructure components, ensuring encryption, access control, and compliance are integral to architecture and deployment.
- Automate infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Monitor system performance and availability using AWS CloudWatch and other observability tools.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and organizational policies for cloud environments.
- Collaborate with security teams to conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and implement remediation strategies.
- Maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure configurations and procedures.
- Provide third-level support for AWS infrastructure-related issues and service requests.
- Participate in on-call rotation for cloud infrastructure support. Which may require nights/evenings/weekends.
Project Execution and Collaboration:
- Lead or contribute to cloud infrastructure components of IT projects.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate infrastructure changes.
- Create and maintain change management documentation for AWS implementations.
- Estimate tasks and contribute to project planning and timelines.
- Share knowledge and updates with team members and stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, storage, and compute services.
- Networking concepts, including IP addressing, virtual networks, and load balancing.
- Proficiency in tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes for automating tasks and managing infrastructure.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat identification, vulnerability assessment, and security best practices.
- Understanding of virtualization technologies and their applications in cloud environments.
- Deep knowledge of cloud security principles and experience implementing secure cloud architectures.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

- Program, problem solve, and communicate skills to effectively design, implement, and maintain cloud-based systems.
- Ability to create, install, troubleshoot, and manage cloud-based applications.

- Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure.
- Analyze situations, make informed decisions, and develop effective solutions.
- Adapt to and learn new technologies with the changing cloud environments.
Education and/or Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field is required. However, equivalent related experience and/or education may be considered as a substitute for the degree requirement upon evaluation.
- 5 or more years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least two years of experience focused on AWS.
- Experience working in environments with sensitive data and regulatory compliance requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)
- AWS certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator) preferred.
