Job summary

Level, a learning technology company, seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for its Platform team in Austin, TX. You will design, build, and operate the cloud foundation that powers Level's products, emphasizing reliability, security, and developer velocity.

You'll own Kubernetes platforms, IaC tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and observability, collaborating with engineers across disciplines to reduce toil and deliver scalable infrastructure for education technology.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building large-scale cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Strong Terraform/OpenTofu IaC experience.
• Hands-on Kubernetes (EKS) production experience.
• Proficient in scripting (Python/Go/Bash).
• Solid cloud networking fundamentals (VPC, DNS, load balancing, ingress, firewalls) and security best practices.
• Proven CI/CD and GitOps experience (GitHub Actions or similar).
• Observability experience (metrics/logs/traces) used to drive decisions.
• Track record leading infrastructure projects independently, end to end.
• Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure & IaC - Design, build, and operate secure, highly available AWS infrastructure with a GitOps workflow.
• Kubernetes & Platform Operations - Operate and evolve EKS: autoscaling, upgrades, core add-ons, and Helm-based delivery.
• CI/CD & Developer Enablement - Build and maintain pipelines that enable fast, safe product delivery.
• Networking, Ingress & DNS - Manage ingress/egress, service mesh, load balancing, and DNS configurations.
• Observability & Reliability - Build observability with OpenTelemetry and SigNoz; lead incidents and post-mortems.
• Security & Compliance - Apply cloud security best practices across identity, secrets, and network boundaries.
