Zachary Piper Solutions in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable Microsoft Azure infrastructure supporting enterprise IT workloads and modern application platforms.

The role emphasizes designing Azure networking, IaC deployments, disaster recovery, and secure architectures while partnering with IT Operations, Security, and development teams to enable PaaS/IaaS workloads and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience operating production cloud environments.
• Experience with Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Azure SQL backup models.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure including VMs, storage, backup, DR, and core services.
• Own reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of production Azure environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents across compute, storage, and networking.
• Build and manage Azure infrastructure using IaC (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or equivalent).
• Promote repeatable, version-controlled infrastructure deployments.
• Reduce manual configuration and ensure consistency across environments.
• Design and maintain secure Azure network architectures, including Private Endpoints and Private Link.
• Implement hub-and-spoke and segmented VN designs.
• Ensure secure connectivity patterns for PaaS and IaaS workloads.
• Design and operate backup, restore, and DR solutions, including Azure Site Recovery.
• Lead and participate in backup and recovery testing.
• Ensure architecture resiliency for business continuity.
• Collaborate with application teams to support PaaS services and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design secure app-to-service communication patterns.
• Translate requirements into scalable Azure infrastructure designs.
• Work with IT Operations, Security, and external partners.
• Participate in planned maintenance windows and production changes.

The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will design, build, and operate secure, scalable Microsoft Azure infrastructure supporting both enterprise IT workloads and modern application platforms.

Responsibilities of the Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer:

• Design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and core platform services

• Solid understanding of Azure networking, security, and identity conceptsExperience supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
• Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code in Azure
• Experience designing secure, private Azure networking architectures
• Familiarity with Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Azure SQL backup models
• Experience supporting modern application platforms in Azure
• Financial services or regulated‑industry experience is a plus

Compensation for the Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer:

• Salary Range: $150,000+ *flexible based on experience*
