Job summary

GMV is seeking an experienced DevOps/Infrastructure engineer in the US transit division to lead the migration of on-prem infrastructure to Azure cloud. You will shape the migration design and guide the execution while maintaining the current colocation setup until completion.

The role emphasizes networking, security, automation, and Kubernetes familiarity, with opportunities to broaden into full platform ownership and enterprise-scale solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in networking, systems, or infrastructure engineering for production environments.
• Hands-on experience building site-to-site and point-to-site VPNs.
• Strong network security fundamentals: firewalls, NSGs, ACLs, segmentation, and cert management.
• Excellent troubleshooting across full stack, from physical to application.
• Scripting and automation ability.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containers, and eagerness to deepen.
• Excellent communication with customer IT/security teams.
• Interest in growing to full platform ownership.
• Support of legacy on-prem infrastructure through migration.
• AZ-700 Azure Network Engineer Associate certification or ability to pass.

Requirements:

• 5+ years in networking, systems, or infrastructure engineering supporting production environments.
• Hands-on experience building site-to-site and point-to-site VPNs, including connections into networks you don't control.
• Strong network security fundamentals: firewalls, NSGs, ACLs, segmentation, and certificate management.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across the full stack, from physical and network layers up to the application.
• Scripting and automation ability.
• Working familiarity with Kubernetes and containers, and the desire to go deeper.
• Excellent communication skills, including in technical conversations with customer IT and security teams.
• Genuine interest in growing beyond networking into full platform ownership.
• Comfortable supporting legacy on-prem infrastructure through a migration.
• AZ-700 Azure Network Engineer Associate certification, or the demonstrated ability to pass it.

Preferred:

• Experience migrating workloads from on-prem or co-lo into Azure without disrupting production.
• Hands-on AKS experience, or managed Kubernetes on another cloud.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform or Bicep.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, with the ability to design and implement them end to end.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft ecosystem: SQL Server, Windows Server, Entra ID, and .NET.
• Experience with cloud cost management and rightsizing.
• Vendor management experience with carriers, ISPs, or colocation providers.
• Observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor.
• AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.

What this role is about:

You’ll join a small, experienced DevOps team preparing for a major project: migrating our infrastructure to the cloud. Your expertise in both cloud infrastructure and IT/networking will make you a key voice in how that migration is designed and executed, and you’ll help maintain the environment once we’re there. Along the way, you’ll help keep our current colocation environment healthy and stable until the migration is complete.

Beyond the migration, you’ll help us solution customer infrastructure requirements and drive future improvements to our platform, keeping our systems running smoothly and efficiently as we scale.
