Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is seeking an IT Modernization Information Systems Security Engineer (SCISSE) in Lorton, VA to integrate cybersecurity into system architecture and engineering activities.

You will develop security artifacts, perform threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and implement controls per established frameworks. The role requires on-site support in Lorton with 12+ years of cybersecurity-related experience, TS/SCI with CI Polygraph, and advanced cloud

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, networking or programming.

Responsibilities

• Integrate cybersecurity requirements into system architecture, design, and engineering activities from concept through deployment.
• Perform security engineering analyses including threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and security impact analyses for proposed changes.
• Select, tailor, and implement security controls per NIST SP 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and related guides.
• Communicate risk assessments, mitigation strategies, residual risks, and risk-benefit recommendations to inform decisions.
• Create and maintain information system security documentation and SOPs; support POA&Ms.
• Monitor systems and procedures to ensure ongoing authorization and compliance; collaborate with ISSOs and development teams.
• Evaluate cloud technologies in encryption, IAM, boundary protection, logging and monitoring; assist incident response and governance efforts.
