Job summary

North Texas Tollway Authority in Plano, TX is seeking a Senior ETL Developer specializing in Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery to design, build, and optimize large-scale data pipelines.

You will work with advanced SQL and Python, orchestrate with Cloud Composer, and partner with analytics leaders to deliver scalable cloud-native data solutions and governance. This role also involves enterprise reporting tools like MicroStrategy, Power BI, and Tableau, plus data quality and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, IS, or related field.
• 6-10+ years of ETL/Data Engineering experience.
• 8-10+ years of SQL experience.
• 8+ years of data architecture/engineering experience.
• Strong expertise with GCP (BigQuery, Composer, Dataflow, Cloud Storage).
• Hands-on with Fivetran, Google DTS, or equivalent ingestion tools.
• Proficiency with enterprise reporting platforms (MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau).
• Advanced SQL and data modeling expertise.
• Experience designing secure and governed data environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build complex ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data sources using GCP native services.
• Build and orchestrate automated data pipelines using Fivetran, Google DTS, and custom ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Create robust ingestion patterns for batch and streaming data.
• Troubleshoot data integration issues, latency problems, and pipeline failures.
• Partner with application teams to integrate SaaS, on-prem, and cloud sources.
• Implement BigQuery best practices, including data modeling, partitioning, clustering, and cost/performance tuning.
• Build reusable workflow frameworks using orchestration tools like Cloud Composer and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
• Enforce strict data validation, observability, schema handling, and reconciliation for enterprise data.
• Partner with data science, Data Analytics, AI, and business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Implement data access controls leveraging IAM, service accounts, and VPC-SC; ensure compliance with data standards; design disaster recovery and high-availability strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional architecture reviews.
