Senior Member of Technical Staff

We are looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff to join our Cloud Infrastructure Engineering division. This team ensures the continuous availability of the technologies and systems that form the foundation of athenahealth’s services. We manage thousands of servers, petabytes of storage, and handle thousands of web requests per second, supporting our rapid growth. Our goal is to enable an operating system for medical offices that simplifies administrative tasks, allowing doctors to focus on patient care.

You are an experienced Database Engineer passionate about resolving performance and scalability challenges in Postgres and Oracle. You are curious, a team player, eager to learn, and dedicated to improving systems. You enjoy automating processes, uncovering inefficiencies, and communicating effectively to promote engineering excellence in Postgres.

The Team

Our team comprises Site Reliability Engineers committed to reliability, automation, and scalability. We work within an agile framework, supporting databases in both private and public clouds, and making data-driven decisions to meet business needs. We focus on automating manual tasks to advance our projects and support the company's growth.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure the stability, security, and scalability of Postgres and Oracle databases using resilience engineering principles.
• Utilize technologies like Postgres and Oracle to support product success.
• Develop automated software solutions to address core business challenges.
• Design and implement database services aligned with Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
• Administer Postgres in AWS and Oracle on-premises environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with highly available Postgres and Oracle databases.
• Expertise in deploying, maintaining, and supporting Postgres in AWS and Oracle on-premises.
• Strong skills in configuration management and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Ability to promote visibility and facilitate rapid issue detection and resolution.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
