Job description

Meet the Team

Join Cisco’s Cloud and Data Center Engineering team—a collaborative group of engineers, architects, and operations specialists dedicated to designing, implementing, and optimizing Cisco’s cloud-based and hybrid infrastructure with a strong focus on network engineering and data centre operations. Our team partners with product managers, security, and IT operations to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions, while staying aligned with Cisco’s security standards and industry best practices. We thrive on cross‑functional collaboration, continuous learning, and delivering high‑impact solutions that power Cisco’s business.

Your Impact
  • Design, develop, and implement cloud‑based and data centre network solutions, combining cutting‑edge technologies to optimize architecture in line with Cisco’s security standards and policies.
  • Design, configure, and maintain data centre network architectures, including switching, routing, and network segmentation across on‑premises and hybrid environments.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and security teams to develop detailed specifications for new cloud‑based products, services, and applications, focusing on network security optimization, scalability, and performance.
  • Plan and execute compute and storage migration activities for data centre relocation or consolidation projects, including assessing environments, creating migration strategies, and mitigating risks.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, OpenStack), performing both live and cold VM migrations and decommissioning with minimal service disruption.
  • Build and maintain enterprise storage systems (NAS/SAN), including volume/LUN creation, host mapping, multipathing, and data replication.
  • Validate system performance and data integrity post‑migration, conduct tuning and optimization, and ensure high availability and performance of systems.
  • Write scripts to automate server operations, network configurations, and management, and maintain QA and production environments using automation tools.
  • Build and maintain monitoring tools for network and infrastructure performance, analyze system trends, and proactively address blockers to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (application, data centre ops, security) while following ITIL‑based request, change, and incident management processes.
  • Produce clear migration documentation and handover materials, sharing learnings and supporting problem resolution across teams.
  • Apply agile methodologies to manage timelines and deliverables, and ensure compliance with security, change management, and operational standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of relevant experience in network engineering or data centre operations, OR Master’s degree in a related field plus 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the design, development, and maintenance of cloud‑based solutions and network infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of data centre networking concepts, switching, and routing protocols.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, OpenStack) and migration activities.
  • Familiarity with enterprise storage systems (NAS/SAN).
  • Experience collaborating within cross‑functional, agile teams.
  • Understanding of security, compliance, and change management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced expertise in Cisco networking platforms, data centre switch architecture, and network design.
  • Hands‑on experience with data centre network design, implementation, and troubleshooting (switching, routing, VLANs, load balancing).
  • Expert‑level experience in deploying, administering, and operating virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack).
  • Strong expertise in building, operating, and tuning Linux and Windows Server environments for high availability and performance.
  • In‑depth knowledge of enterprise storage systems (e.g., NetApp) and storage architectures (NAS, SAN), including volume/LUN management, host mapping, multipathing, and data replication.
  • Proficiency in network automation and programmability (REST APIs, Ansible, Python).
  • Hands‑on experience in data centre operations, including hardware installation, rack management, cabling, power management, and network cabling infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation for network, server, and infrastructure management.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools for network and infrastructure performance (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).
  • Knowledge of data centre security standards and network segmentation best practices.
