Job summary

Workday seeks a Sr Cloud Engineer to guide cloud adoption and lead the technical aspects of migrating to the Public Cloud. You will shape cloud strategy, design secure, scalable architectures, automate deployments, and mentor cloud engineers across teams.

This role supports a flexible hybrid work model and partnerships with vendors to optimize cloud solutions, with a focus on security and cost efficiency. Primary location is Reston, VA, USA.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on experience with one or more public cloud providers (AWS or GCP).
• 5+ years experience with Linux operating systems.
• 8+ years experience delivering Infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or Ansible.
• 8+ years experience in Ruby, Go, or Python.
• This role may require a security clearance at the TS/SCI w/CI Poly level; active clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with the company’s objectives, using Public Cloud.
• Design cloud-based solutions and architectures that meet security, scalability, reliability, and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with application teams to assess and plan the cloud readiness of their services and automate deployment processes.
• Establish cloud governance policies, guidelines, and best practices to maintain compliance and optimize resource usage.
• Continuously monitor and optimize cloud resources to enhance performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a growing team of cloud engineers.
• Collaborate with cloud service providers and other third-party vendors to apply their expertise and tools effectively.
