Position Summary:
Hill Associates is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our technical team in support of federal government cloud initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring advanced experience designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructures. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking engineer who thrives in hybrid environments, excels in cross-functional collaboration, and is passionate about modernizing government IT operations through cloud technology.
You will provide support to the team working in Azure and other Microsoft cloud services and SharePoint Online to develop cloud solutions for customers. You will assist customer intake discussions and validate technical solutions based on best practices architectures in Microsoft. You will have experience building, deploying, managing, and monitoring services with Azure. You will also need to integrate tools and services for all areas of cloud computing, such as data and networks.
The candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust suitability clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain Azure and multi-cloud environments (AWS experience a plus)
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, or PowerShell
- Support enterprise migrations, including Office 365, Exchange Online, and Azure AD
- Design and manage hybrid Exchange and Intune MDM deployments
- Lead the development of monitoring and alerting solutions using Azure Monitor, Dynatrace, or similar tools
- Provide cloud governance through automation runbooks, policy enforcement, and compliance reporting
- Support Zero Trust implementation including FIDO2/U2F authentication and PKI solutions
- Lead or support DevOps practices, leveraging Azure DevOps, Git, and APIOps
- Document technical designs and assist in knowledge transfer to client teams
- Participate in strategic planning, troubleshooting, and client consultations
Requirements:
- 10+ years of relevant IT experience, with 3+ years in a cloud engineering role
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, information technology, or relevant field of study
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust suitability clearance
- Demonstrated expertise with Azure services, including Azure AD, Azure Monitor, Functions, Automation Runbooks
- Hands-on experience with Office 365 migration, administration, and support
- Strong scripting skills: PowerShell, Bash, or Perl
- Experience implementing secure authentication protocols and tools like YubiKey, FIDO2, MFA
- Knowledge of network configuration and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with ticketing systems such as MAXIMO, Autotask, ConnectWise
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with Azure Active Directory and Identity Management
- Experience in SharePoint Online to develop cloud solutions
- Experience deploying and administering Microsoft Teams and OneDrive
- Demonstrated experience with virtualization, network infrastructures, virtual storage, software-defined networks, physical data storage, and disaster recovery technologies
- Deep understanding of network, data, identity, and services in the cloud, and how they all integrate
- Critical and creative thinker with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in complex technical situations with varying degrees of ambiguity and change
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, with demonstrated use of these tools to model technical architectures and processes
Desired Experience:
- Experience in federal IT environments
- Familiarity with FedRAMP, FIPS, and compliance-driven architecture
- Experience supporting DevSecOps pipelines
- Exposure to container platforms (e.g., OpenShift, Kubernetes)
- One or more of the following certifications preferred:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- AWS Solutions Architect – Associate
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
