Job Type: Ongoing Contract
Rate: $10,500/month
Type: US Citizenship is Required due to Federal Project- Ability to pass enhanced background screen (criminal, financial, drug) for Public Trust clearance.

Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and manage observability solutions across AWS-based cloud infrastructure. This role ensures system reliability and visibility through best-in-class monitoring, logging, and alerting practices. You’ll collaborate across operations and compliance teams to ensure cloud workloads meet performance, security, regulatory, and cost-efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement health checks and probes for AWS infrastructure and applications

• Define and deploy readiness/liveness probes for containers (EKS/ECS)

• Write custom scripts for CloudWatch metrics and alarms

• Implement alerting and remediation automation

• Document monitoring strategies, configurations, and operational playbooks

• Manage observability tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog)

• Configure thresholds, dashboards, and system metrics

• Perform root cause analysis using observability tools

• Maintain inventory of licensed software (Windows, Oracle, Red Hat, SQL Server)

• Conduct license audits, compliance, and reconciliation

• Monitor and optimize performance of AWS services (EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, ECS, EKS)

• Recommend and implement resource right-sizing

• Support capacity planning, disaster recovery, and performance benchmarking

• Generate reports on system trends, utilization, and cost-efficiency

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

• 3+ years in cloud infrastructure with strong AWS expertise

• Deep experience with AWS CloudWatch (logs, metrics, Synthetics), Route 53 health checks

• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or Node.js)

• Familiar with CI/CD tools and container orchestration (GitHub, GitLab, Kubernetes, DevOps pipelines)

• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect Associate)

• Experience with software license management and cloud cost optimization

• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with observability stacks (Grafana, OpenSearch, Datadog)

• Knowledge of FinOps principles and cost-performance optimization
