Job summary

Akamai Technologies seeks a Senior Software Engineer II for the Compute Lab Team to build and manage lab infrastructure for the Akamai Connected Cloud. You will contribute to scaling infrastructure, develop deployment stacks, and improve observability and reliability across the platform.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, strong IaC tooling with Terraform/SaltStack/Ansible, and practical Python with Flask/Django.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience.
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation and related tooling (Terraform, SaltStack, Ansible).
• Experience with Python and RESTful API frameworks, including Flask and Django.
• Experience in container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Nomad and dev-environment tooling (Kind, Docker Compose, Tilt).
• Comfort with relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres.

Responsibilities

• Developing the deployment stack responsible for building new test datacenters on the Lab Platform.
• Designing monitoring solutions with observability tooling to ensure health of Lab Services.
• Identify bottlenecks with deployment and configuration frameworks and propose performance and reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, architects and SMEs on solutions that increase speed and confidence in shipping products.
• Work on a highly collaborative global team that values feedback and open communication.
