Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a Senior Legacy Modernization (Mainframe) leader to design and oversee updating and improving existing applications to align with modern technologies, including cloud migration, infrastructure upgrades, and code refactoring. The ideal candidate has presales and GTM experience along with strong technical acumen.

Qualifications

• 16+ years of IT experience with at least 10+ years in leading Cloud projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
• 5+ years building cloud-based solutions and products (Azure, AWS, GCP) to modernize mainframe infra and apps
• 15+ years in Application Development and Modernization with hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Proven track record delivering large-scale legacy modernization deals on mainframe and/or iSeries
• Deep understanding of multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with experience in non-hyperscalers for modernization
• Proficiency in modern programming languages, frameworks, and cloud-native design patterns
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, MicroFocus, Raincode, mLogica) for scalability and deployment

Responsibilities

• Lead assessment and strategy development by evaluating legacy landscape and debt
• Define a comprehensive modernization strategy for mainframe and iSeries tech stack
• Architect migrating cloud-native solutions with scalable, secure designs
• Choose modernization techniques (re-platforming, refactoring, replacement) based on business needs
• Create detailed technical blueprints for migration and modernization projects
• Provide oversight to cross-functional teams through development, testing, and deployment
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and adjust the modernization plan
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align business requirements with technical solutions
• Provide technical leadership to navigate challenges and enforce quality standards
• Define strategy for organizational change management and new operating model for modernized estate
