Job summary

Dexcom Inc. is seeking a seasoned engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud-based backend systems powering AI-driven features. You will work with AI Platform Engineers to deliver scalable services and APIs on GCP, in a fast-paced, regulated medical-grade environment.

You will contribute across the full software lifecycle, integrating with Firestore and Cloud SQL, and improving automation, testing, and observability while collaborating with QA/SRE teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 13+ years of related experience, or Master’s with 8+ years (PhD + 5+ years)
• Strong programming in Python and Kotlin; shell scripting
• Experience building distributed, cloud-native backend services on GCP
• Experience with Pub/Sub and Kafka for messaging/streaming
• Proficiency with Firestore and Cloud SQL for data persistence/querying
• Experience building and deploying services using Docker and container-based environments
• Familiarity with automated testing, modern CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly, especially AI-assisted development tools

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud-based backend systems with APIs, event-driven services, and data pipelines
• Work across the full software lifecycle: architecture, design, implementation, testing, performance tuning, docs, verification
• Develop and integrate services with Firestore, Cloud SQL, and other GCP components
• Improve automation, developer efficiency, observability, and cost-optimization initiatives
• Participate in code reviews and champion API design, security, testing, DevOps, and cloud architecture
• Learn and maintain existing internal apps, modernizing/refactoring where needed
• Diagnose and resolve issues with QA/SRE across environments and production
• Use GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and JIRA to manage development and releases
• Participate in on-call rotations as required
