Job summary

Dexcom Inc. seeks a senior backend engineer to help build cloud-native backend services powering AI-enabled features. You will design APIs, data pipelines, and event-driven components on GCP, collaborating with AI Platform Engineers and SRE teams to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.

You will work across the full software lifecycle, optimize performance, and drive automation. The role offers a remote work setup from a US home office, with possible hybrid options if within commuting

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in a technical field with 13+ years of related experience, or Master’s with 8+ years (PhD: 5+ years).
Strong programming skills in Python, Kotlin, and shell scripting.
Experience building distributed, cloud-native backend services on GCP; Pub/Sub and Kafka knowledge.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain cloud-based backend systems (APIs, event-driven services, data pipelines).
Work across the full software lifecycle: architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and verification.
Develop and integrate services with Firestore and Cloud SQL; use Docker and containerized environments.
Improve engineering processes through automation, observability, and cost optimization.
Participate in code reviews and promote best practices in API design, security, testing, DevOps, and cloud architecture.
Learn and maintain internal apps, modernize/refactor where appropriate.
Diagnose and resolve issues with QA and SRE teams; use GitHub, CI/CD, and JIRA.
Participate in on-call rotations.
