Job summary

Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) seeks an accomplished architect/engineer to define and maintain enterprise architectures across on‑prem and cloud‑native systems. You will guide solution design, code quality, and engineering best practices throughout the SDLC, leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate work and enable teams to adopt them responsibly.

You will lead cloud modernization, including workload assessments and migration strategies, while designing IAM and governance.

Qualifications

5+ years in architecture or senior engineering role
Experience designing and operating cloud services across major public clouds
Knowledge of identity and access management protocols
Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools
Proficient in DevOps tooling and CI/CD
Infrastructure-as-Code and environment automation experience
Backend development with C++, Java, or Python
Comfort using AI-assisted development tools
Containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes)
Security, networking, and governance familiarity
Ability to lead modernization and cloud migration initiatives
Data modeling and enterprise data governance awareness

Responsibilities

Define and maintain application architectures across on-prem and cloud-native systems.
Guide solution design, code quality, and SDLC best practices with development teams.
Incorporate AI-assisted tooling to accelerate design, prototyping, and reviews.
Lead cloud strategy and modernization across environments.
Design IAM approaches and collaborate on identity governance and least-privilege access.
Establish observability practices for health monitoring and diagnostics.
Promote infrastructure-as-code and automated provisioning for parity.
Shape CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security scanning.
Collaborate to define tech roadmaps, standards, and reusable patterns.
Provide API design support, performance tuning, and issue troubleshooting.
Ensure security, compliance, and governance requirements are met.
Mentor engineers across multiple disciplines.
