Job summary

Inovalon is seeking a senior leader to serve as the Clinical Informatics & Ontology Lead, driving enterprise terminology strategy, governance, and data normalization for real-world data products. You will own ontology services, collaborate with engineering and product teams, and ensure governance and quality across data assets.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in healthcare data and clinical informatics with a Bachelor's degree.
• 7+ years with a Master's degree in a related field.
• Deep expertise with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm.
• Proficient SQL for querying large healthcare datasets.
• Ability to translate terminology decisions for stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, governance, and maintenance of clinical ontologies and terminology assets.
• Own normalization and terminology services and map business requirements to configurations.
• Lead clinical normalization for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Product, and Clinical teams to ensure data fidelity.
• Define terminology-driven data quality rules and semantic validation checks.
• Guide migration of legacy references to scalable terminology services.
• Evaluate new data assets for clinical depth and semantic fit.
• Maintain documentation for auditability and cross-functional transparency.
• Adhere to Inovalon policies and HIPAA requirements.
