Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Senior Clinical Documentation Specialist to audit and improve documentation quality for accurate reflection of severity, mortality risk and care complexity. You will collaborate with physicians, nursing staff and coding to ensure highest specificity and timely updates across the patient care team.

Role requires RN licensure in RI (BSN preferred) or equivalent clinician with CDI certification; you will mentor staff, develop education materials, and test platforms

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with RI licensure or equivalent credential.
• BSN required; master's degree preferred for advanced practice.
• CDI certification from ACDIS or AHIMA required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates expert knowledge of CDI issues related to ICD-10 and DRG assignments.
• Mentors staff and develops educational materials for providers.
• Performs concurrent and retrospective reviews using risk-adjusted methods.
• Develops and updates CDI query templates and tests platforms.
• Manages EPIC work queues and tests new queries with staff development.
