Job summary

Merck is seeking a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) to lead clinical research activities in Early Oncology. The role spans planning, execution, monitoring, analysis, regulatory reporting, and publication of studies for new or marketed medicines.

The candidate will supervise cross-functional teams and ensure scientific rigor across all development stages. The position requires MD or MD/PhD with substantial industry experience in clinical medicine and drug development, strong communication

Qualifications

• Required: MD or MD/PhD with board eligibility in oncology or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical medicine experience in industry or academia.
• At least 1 year in drug development or biomedical research within industry/academia.
• Demonstrated scholarly track record and publications in relevant areas.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct clinical trials from design through regulatory reporting and publication.
• Provide medical oversight and conduct for ongoing or new trials of investigational or marketed drugs.
• Summarize clinical findings to support safety, efficacy decisions, and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for development of new compounds and further study of marketed drugs.
• Support business development assessments of external opportunities.
