Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Clinical Data Analyst to support research, clinical, quality improvement, and business data needs. The analyst will assist clinical faculty and investigators to identify data, build databases, and enable advanced analytics, reporting, and data-driven decisions.

The role reports to the Knowledge Management Team, with a focus on onboarding new analysts, data access, and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

Master's degree in information science, computer science, epidemiology, biostatistics, or equivalent technical experience.
Strong analytic, issue resolution, and facilitation skills.
5+ years experience in a healthcare data setting.
4+ years experience with Epic Clarity and/or Caboodle.
4+ years experience in statistical software (Python, SAS, R, etc.).
Proficient writing complex SQL stored procedures and queries.
Experience with MS PowerBI.
Ability to present complex information clearly.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Expertise with data and analytics tools.
Experience querying and analyzing data with SQL or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

Gather business/data requirements from clinical faculty and Principal Investigators and collaborate on study design or cohorts.
Mentor and consult with clinical data analysts to foster collaboration and escalation support.
Be a subject matter expert on data and processes for analysts to succeed and be able to teach these data/processes.
Consult with investigators and team members to ensure adherence to department policies and timelines.
Represent the manager in meetings when unavailable.
Oversee onboarding of new clinical data analysts.
Use third-party software tools and data warehouse to develop queries and visualizations; create data marts.
Participate in multi-site committees to enable IT and research informatics collaboration.
Contribute to analytics projects using EMR data to measure and predict outcomes.
Develop predictive models using statistical/machine learning methods.
Prepare analytic datasets and use Python/R to analyze data for faculty.
Produce reports to support evidence-based clinical and financial decisions.
Collaborate with CRIO/CMIO/Knowledge Management on new queries/tools.
Maintain peer relationships within the IT BI/knowledge management team.
