Town of Arlington's Police Department seeks a part-time Records Attendant (18 hours per week) to support administrative and records tasks. You will process reports, maintain logs, and design forms while handling information related to public records under Massachusetts laws.

Hourly Range: $26.95 - $35.35 per hour

Administrative and record keeping work supporting the operations of the Community Safety Department and all other related work, as required.
Works under the general supervision of a Police Captain, in accordance with established methods and procedures.
Works independently to perform a variety of responsible duties pertaining to an extensive body of specialized rules, regulations and procedures; situations requiring clarification are referred to the supervisor.
Most work is performed in typical office conditions. The volume of work is subject to unpredicted fluctuations.
The employee operates standard office equipment.
The employee has considerable contact with criminal justice agencies and social service agencies; disseminates reports in person and by mail; responds to telephone requests and complaints.
The employee has access to information pertaining to criminal investigations and records and legal proceedings.
High school diploma; advanced training in secretarial skills; three years of office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures and department operations.
Ability to work independently, organize time and accomplish tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to record and maintain financial records. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Excellent computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets. Communication and organizational skills.
Minimal physical effort is required to perform duties under typical office conditions. The employee is frequently required to sit, speak, hear, use hands to operate equipment, climb, kneel and lift items weighing up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include the ability to read routine and complex documents and use a computer.
