Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections, Liberty Correctional Institution, is seeking a Senior Clerk-F/C (Classification) to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviours, ensuring housing and program placements that promote safety and rehabilitation.

This on-site role requires attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to maintain official records, prepare forms, and support the Classification Department in daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare correspondence, memorandums, and typing of essential forms for the Classification Department.
• Maintain inmate files in Inmate Records, audit new inmate data, and prepare required forms.
• Enter data into the CDC database, retrieve information, and maintain classification documentation.
• Receive, date-stamp, sort and distribute mail; copy, scan, and fax documents.
• Provide customer service by answering calls, assisting inmate families, and handling special projects.

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Liberty Correctional Institution in the Classification Department.

The purpose of the Senior Clerk in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviours. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

• Be the backbone of the Classification Department by preparing correspondence, memorandums, and typing essential forms and documents.
• Play a crucial role in the Inmate Records area by maintaining inmate files, conducting audits on new inmates, and preparing necessary forms.
• Showcase your organizational skills by inputting data into the CDC database, retrieving and pringint information, and maintaining classification documentation.
• Keep the department running smoothly by receiving, date stamping, sorting and distributing mail, as well as handling, copying scanning, and faxing of documents.
• Provide top-notch customer service by answering phone calls professionally, assisting inmate families, and taking on special projects and other clerical duties as assigned.
