Job summary

Great American Insurance Group’s Alternative Markets unit is seeking a Claims Specialist/Senior Claims Specialist to join their team. The role involves investigating claims, securing and analyzing information, and working toward resolution through negotiations, arbitrations, or trials as needed.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years of related experience, with a strong preference for New York Labor claims experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.
• Experience: generally 9+ years of related experience.
• New York Labor claims experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and maintains claims: Reviews and evaluates coverage and/or liability to include tenders.
• Secures and analyzes necessary information in the investigation of claims.
• Works toward the resolution of claims files and attends arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
• Establishes reserves and negation settlements within prescribed limits.
• Provides guidance and coaching as needed and may participate in talent decisions for direct reports.
• Ensures timely and accurate payment of claims and compliance with laws and company procedures.
