Job summary

The University of Florida seeks a Senior Claims Attorney for Gainesville or Jacksonville to oversee intake, investigation and disposition of self-insurance claims. The role supports the Deputy Administrator and collaborates with faculty, hospitals and SIP participants.

Required: a law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) and at least three years of relevant experience in legal, medical, or health care fields; extensive travel and coordination with outside counsel are expected.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in legal, medical, or health care fields.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee intake, processing, and disposition of SIP incident reports.
• Investigate and evaluate medical, legal, and fiscal issues for SIP claims.
• Coordinate defense, settlement, or denial of claims and presuit processes.
• Manage litigation processes in defense of SIP-related lawsuits.
• Identify risk factors and collaborate with Loss Prevention staff to reduce risk.
• Travel extensively to meet with experts and support SIP activities.
