Position: Senior Claim Director, Specialty Complex Claims

We are seeking a Senior Claim Director, Specialty Complex Claims to join our North America Claims team. This role reports to the Head of Specialty Complex Claims and involves managing a wide variety of complex claims across multiple lines of business, including Casualty, Commercial Property, Professional Lines, Program Claims, Canada Claims, and A&H Claims.

The responsibilities include:

1. Managing claims with significant severity and complexity, including coverage issues and litigation.
2. Handling coverage disputes, litigation, and arbitration matters.
3. Formulating claims and litigation strategies and managing outside counsel.
4. Managing coverage counsel and litigation costs, collaborating with relevant teams.
5. Managing discovery issues and witness preparation.
6. Providing guidance on coverage issues and claim handling strategies to the North America Claims teams.
7. Reviewing coverage positions across various states.
8. Collaborating with legal and other disciplines to address errors and omissions issues.
9. Identifying trends and formulating strategies for claims and coverage issues.
10. Supporting underwriting inquiries related to policy construction and risk assessments.
11. Mentoring and coaching the claims team.
12. Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
13. Communicating with senior management, brokers, reinsurers, and other external parties.

Key Skills & Abilities:

• 7-10+ years of claims handling experience involving complex coverage issues and litigation.
• Leadership, organizational, and management skills.
• Legal practice experience and claims management experience.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across organizational levels.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and investigative skills.
• Understanding of claims, litigation, arbitration, and trial processes.
• Law Degree and active admission to a state bar.
• Adjuster Licenses in all required states.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
