Job summary

SME is seeking a Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer to lead QA review services for steel and concrete fabrication projects in Michigan counties and cities, aligned with MDOT requirements.

The role emphasizes client interaction, technical review from proposal to final documentation, and mentoring staff within the SCN group. Prior DOT standards experience is advantageous in this leadership role.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year civil engineering degree with a PE license in Michigan
• Experience with fabrication QA, inspections, and project management is preferred but not required for the right candidate
• Ability to scope, price, and manage technical review work
• Excellent written and verbal communication for interaction with clients and teams

Responsibilities

• Lead steel and concrete fabrication QA review projects for Local Agency clients in Michigan
• Prepare scopes and quotes for fabrication review work based on MDOT standards
• Coordinate fabrication shop reviews and schedules with fabricators and staff
• Review reports for quality and compliance prior to submittal
• Mentor team members and assist with other SCN services as needed
