KS Engineers, P.C. seeks a Deputy Department Manager to oversee civil/site engineering projects from proposal through design and construction support in Newark, NJ. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, craft scopes and budgets, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires a PE license in NJ/NY, 10+ years of civil/site experience, and strong client coordination. Leadership and mentoring of staff are essential for project success and quality control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• PE license in NJ or NY; reciprocity in NJ/NY within 6 months.
• Minimum 10 years of civil/site engineering experience.
• Minimum 5 years leading multiple civil/site projects and design teams.
• Familiarity with NJDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NJDEP, NYSDEC, NYCDEP; NYCDDC, PANYNJ, NJTA is a plus.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, staffing, and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple civil/site engineering projects from proposal through final design and construction support.
• Lead and supervise multidisciplinary engineering and CAD design teams.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, staffing plans, and budgets.
• Monitor project progress, profitability, and resource allocation.
• Review and approve project invoices, change orders, and project financial reports.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, subconsultants, utility companies, and regulatory agencies.
• Oversee and prepare civil/site engineering design documents for transportation, municipal, commercial, and public infrastructure projects.
• Perform and review engineering design for: Site/civil design including grading, roadway, storm water management, green infrastructure, water and sewer mains, signing, and erosion and sediment control design.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, quantity estimates, and construction cost estimates.
• Direct the preparation of construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Coordinate and collaborate with KS Engineering Departments on pursuits, teaming, project designs and quality including Design Coordination Meetings.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while providing technical leadership throughout project execution.
