Job summary

The United States Attorney's Office, District of New Hampshire, Civil Division, is seeking a first-level supervisory attorney support role. The incumbent will supervise paralegals and legal assistants, assign work, and guide case preparation across discovery, motions, hearings, and trials.

Responsibilities include training staff, evaluating performance, coordinating schedules, and providing technical support for evidence and exhibits.

Qualifications

• One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal or equivalent sector.
• Experience planning, reviewing and overseeing work assignments of legal support staff; guiding management and/or support staff.
• Experience using legal software/databases to conduct legal research and prepare litigation documents.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, counsel, and instruction to paralegals and legal assistants on technical and administrative matters.
• Plan work for subordinates, set priorities, and prepare schedules to meet deadlines.
• Assign, direct, review, and coordinate work of subordinates.
• Develop performance work plans and evaluate performance ratings for legal support staff.
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct or oversee training of assigned personnel; identify developmental needs.
• Address employee conduct and performance issues and take appropriate actions.
• Address suggestions, resolve complaints, and manage grievances.
• Approve leave, recommend awards, promotions, and assist in staffing decisions.
• Instruct and provide guidance for preparing court filings.
• Assist AUSAs in discovery and pretrial/trial preparation; organize exhibits for trial.
• Provide technical support to AUSAs and government agents for gathering evidence.
