Job summary

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, a national Am Law 200 firm, seeks an experienced paralegal for our Walnut Creek, CA office. This is a 100% in-office role; remote work is not available.

The successful candidate will support attorneys in civil litigation, perform discovery tasks, and summarize records with strong organizational skills. Required: 3+ years paralegal experience in a law firm, civil litigation background, and ABA-approved paralegal credentials.

Qualifications

• 3+ years paralegal experience in a law firm.
• Civil litigation experience required.
• Familiarity with web-based legal research services.
• Experience working with paperless files; iManage experience a plus.
• Must successfully pass a background/drug screen.
• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program required.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with the preparation of a civil case for trial.
• Discovery and records management.
• Summarize medical and employment records; create medical chronologies; summarize discovery responses; prepare meet and confer correspondence.
• Motion writing experience (e.g., oppositions to motions including discovery motions).
• Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision.
