Job summary

KS Engineers, P.C. in New Jersey seeks a Senior Civil Highway Engineer/Department Manager to lead highway, roadway and site design efforts. The role includes mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients while delivering schedules, estimates and design deliverables.

The position requires a BSCE, a PE license in NY/NJ, 8–12 years of civil design experience, and CAD proficiency. Relocation reimbursement is provided for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY and/or NJ required.
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in civil design for highway/roadway and site improvements including the use of CADD and related computer design software.
  • Proficient in applying Design Manuals in use by various governmental agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or conduct Civil Engineering design tasks including geometrics, profiles/grading, drainage/storm water management, soil erosion and sediment control, traffic signs and markings, maintenance, and protection of traffic.
  • Prepare technical specifications, quantity and cost estimates, design, and construction schedules.
  • Prepare design study reports and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and deal directly with clients.
  • Periodically organize and lead fieldwork effort with internal staff teams.
  • Assist in developing design scope of work and associated fee estimates, and other business development efforts.
  • Provide mentorship to Junior staff.
  • Keeps current with design criteria and technology.
  • Is proficient in software (engineering, drafting, administrative) required to complete assigned projects.

Educational and Experience Requirements:
  • - Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required; master’s degree preferred.

- 8-12 years of progressive experience in civil design for highway/roadway and site improvements including the use of CADD and related computer design software.

- Proficient in applying Design Manuals in use by various governmental agencies.

Pay transparency:
  • - Base salary is $120,000 to $140,000 per year.

- Reimbursement of relocation expenses will be provided to individuals who meet eligibility requirements.

  • - Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with guidance from their supervisor.

Physical Requirements:
  • - Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods (often 6–8 hours a day).
  • - Maintaining posture while working at a computer.
  • - Short periods of standing or walking within the office (to printers, meeting rooms, etc.).
