Job summary

System One is hiring a Staff Engineering Technician-Solar in Phoenix, AZ for onsite, contract work supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects. The role focuses on civil site development activities, including grading, drainage, roads, fencing, and underground utilities for large projects.

You will produce site plans and layouts using Autodesk Civil 3D, PVcase, and PVFarm, while guiding engineers and technicians to ensure quality and compliance with design standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate required; Associate degree preferred in drafting or engineering design tech.
• Minimum 5 years related work experience.
• Proficient with Autodesk Civil 3D; PVcase and PVFarm experience a plus.
• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, and implementation of civil infrastructure for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Perform technical civil engineering design tasks using Autodesk Civil 3D, PVcase, and PVFarm.
• Prepare and modify site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts to ensure compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering professionals to maintain quality across deliverables.
• Review design inputs and calculations to ensure adherence to codes and client specs.
• Assist with project documentation review and field support as needed.
• Apply engineering principles to develop complex design concepts and solutions.
• Coordinate with design team and support project development efforts.
• Seek opportunities to incorporate the latest technologies to improve outcomes.
