Job summary

Provost & Pritchard is seeking experienced Senior and Principal-level Civil Engineers to support incorporated cities through contract engineering services. This role focuses on guiding capital improvement projects from funding through design and construction, ensuring CEQA/NEPA compliance.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (Civil) license in California required.
• 10+ years of experience in public sector or consulting engineering leading and directing work teams.
• 5+ years of experience managing projects.
• 5+ years of experience as primary client contact.
• Experience in planning, design and construction of transportation, water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend in-person public meetings with city staff and commissions.
• Represent the city at regional meetings as requested by client.
• Lead planning, design, and construction of transportation, water, wastewater, and/or stormwater projects.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Develop or update improvement standards and drawings.
• Review development applications and conditions of approval.
• Manage schedules and budgets for capital improvement projects.
• Prepare or oversee financial assistance applications and feasibility studies.
• Administer construction contracts and public bidding processes.
• Supervise engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and development.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and regulatory/compliance documentation.
• Teach and mentor junior staff.
