Job summary

Alachua County Department of Public Works is seeking a Civil Engineer III to support transportation capital improvement projects. This role plans, designs, coordinates, and delivers TCIP projects to enhance public infrastructure in Alachua County, FL.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in civil/public works engineering and four years of related experience. A Florida PE license is required within six months, and a valid FL driver license is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, public works engineering, or related field.
• Four years of professional engineering experience in design and management of transportation capital improvement.
• Valid Florida Driver License and MVR review per county policy.
• State of Florida Professional Engineer registration within six months of employment.
• Background checks pre-hire and ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Exudes a positive customer service focus.
• Supervises, plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the Transportation Capital Improvement Program Division.
• Performs complex design elements for TCIP projects.
• Reviews and approves design work of subordinate engineers.
• Prepares construction contract documents and coordinates with Procurement.
• Represents higher level supervisors at meetings and in public presentations.
