The City of Durham, NC is seeking a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer to lead complex municipal engineering projects, including planning, design, review, and maintenance of roads, water and sewer systems, and stormwater networks.

This position offers hybrid work with up to three remote days per week and includes responsibilities such as supervising staff, meeting with stakeholders, and developing technical standards. A strong background in civil engineering and project management is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in planning, surveying, design, review, contracting, inspection, field supervision and maintenance of municipal engineering projects.

Responsabilités

• Prepare complex professional civil engineering work for municipal projects and systems (roads, water, sewer, stormwater).
• Oversee data analysis by obtaining electronic data, review for accuracy, analyze trends, and prepare written reports.
• Attend meetings with internal and external customers to provide assistance.
• Provide technical and administrative support to supervising professional engineer; respond to inquiries and draft technical correspondence.
• Complete special projects by preparing presentations, attending seminars, and updating standards and procedures.
