Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Civil Engineer to join a Winchester, VA office, working under a licensed Professional Engineer on land development projects in Northern Virginia and Eastern West Virginia.

You will design industrial, commercial, and residential sites, prepare plans with AutoCAD Civil 3D, manage stormwater and drainage systems, and collaborate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• 13+ years of civil engineering experience in land development.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software for civil design and site development.
• Experience with civil engineering design, including site development, drainage, stormwater management, erosion control, and sediment control.
• Ability to assist in the planning and design of hydraulic and stormwater collection systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with clients, agencies, and team members.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects for land development.
• Produce detailed civil design plans and drawings using AutoCAD, Carlson, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Prepare and review project schematics and site plans, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
• Assist in planning and design of hydraulic and stormwater systems.
• Develop project schedules, manage timelines, and adjust tasks as deadlines and priorities change.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate project activities.
• Utilize GIS tools and construction estimating software to support planning and cost estimation.
• Communicate updates with clients and agencies.
• Contribute to project proposals, reports, and supporting materials.
• Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers with design and coordination tasks.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
