Senior Civil Engineer - Land Development (FT - Hybrid)

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Engineer is responsible for the review, management, and coordination of professional engineering work related to land development and various public works projects. The Senior Engineer reviews and manages multiple land development projects simultaneously, supervises staff, coordinates project development and progress with clients, and provides technical support for internal and external stakeholders.

We only consider candidates living locally or within the State of CA. We do not pay any relocation expenses.

This position is available as full-time or as-needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review plans, specifications and estimates for the construction of land development and public works projects.
  • Design and review of street/storm drain/sewer, site improvement, grading, and water line plans.
  • Review of WQMP for Water Regional Board Districts in California.
  • Design preparation and review of hydrology/hydraulic reports and calculations.
  • Review and provide recommendations for site improvement plans for conformance with governing codes and design principles.
  • Provide professional and engineering support to design and construction management teams.
  • Serve as senior engineer at a municipality.
  • Direct engineering staff to perform complex engineering review for public works projects and programs, ensuring technical competence and compliance with governing regulations.
  • Manage project budgets from inception to completion.
  • Coordinate project design approval efforts with all stakeholders, including but not limited to jurisdiction staff, developers, and design consultants.
  • Work closely with clients and group leads. Coordinate via email, phone, or in-person meetings for client requests for project information or verifications of review comments.
  • Perform quality control of final products of subordinate staff.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of land development and public improvement design and plan review experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Current PE California License is required. Specialty certifications are highly desired.
  • Proven track record for successfully completing public works projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of electronic databases such as BlueBeam.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft tools, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, MS Teams, SharePoint Portal.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Driving occasionally to job sites.
  • Sitting/standing for extended periods of time.
  • Working with detailed, finely printed documents.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment when dealing with deadlines and multiple projects.

Salary Range

$120,000 - $165,000 USD
