Job summary

Giffels Webster in Birmingham, Michigan is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Oakland County office. You will work with municipalities to enhance quality of life in southeast Michigan and lead design and project tasks under supervision.

Candidates should have an engineering degree (ABET or equivalent) and at least 5 years of civil engineering experience, with AutoCAD proficiency and exposure to municipal or private development projects.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree from ABET accredited university or equivalent amount of applicable experience.
  • At least 5 years of Civil Engineering experience
  • Must have experience in AutoCAD software
  • Exposure to Municipal and/or Private Development projects

Giffels Webster has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Oakland County office located in Birmingham, Michigan. As a Senior Engineer you will work with municipalities aimed at enhancing the quality of life in southeast Michigan.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently on various engineering projects and assist a wide variety of client types from local municipalities, county governments, and road agencies. You will work in a team environment led by a Project Manager/Senior Project Manager on a variety of tasks.

  • Geometrics

  • Pavement design
  • Soil erosion and sediment control
  • Utility (storm sanitary and water) design
  • Stormwater management
  • Traffic plans
  • Details
  • Record drawings and specifications
  • Prepare permit applications and cost estimates
  • Attend meetings
  • Conduct field visits
  • Perform construction administration tasks

Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
  • You have an engineering degree from an ABET accredited university or equivalent amount of applicable experience.
  • At least 5 years of Civil Engineering experience
  • Must have experience in AutoCAD software
  • Exposure to Municipal and/or Private Development projects
Preferred qualifications:
  • PE licensure in Michigan (or seeking to obtain)
  • Experience in Civil3D
  • Experience with water and sanitary design
  • Experience working with MDOT Local Agency Programs
