Job description

Role Overview

As a Civil Engineer III, you will lead complex civil engineering projects from concept through completion while delivering thoughtful, technically sound solutions for clients and communities. You will collaborate across disciplines, guide project documentation and design quality, and help ensure work aligns with regulatory requirements and Progressive’s Performance Based Design principles. You will also serve as a technical mentor, helping junior engineers grow while supporting successful project outcomes.

Deliver Results
  • Develop high-quality civil engineering designs, specifications, reports, and presentations that align with project goals and stakeholder needs.
  • Lead advanced construction administration activities, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, field inspections, and coordination with project teams.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Team Leads, clients, consultants, and internal disciplines to define scope, schedules, budgets, and project execution plans.
  • Analyze project feasibility, performance metrics, hydraulic systems, flood risk, environmental impacts, and potential risks to support resilient design solutions.
  • Review complex project documentation for accuracy, consistency, quality, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage clients and governing agencies throughout the project lifecycle to support reviews, approvals, and long-term project success.
  • Mentor engineering staff by sharing technical expertise, supporting problem-solving, and contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer licensure required.
  • Typically 15+ years of post‑graduation professional engineering experience and/or 10+ years of professionally licensed experience.
  • Advanced civil engineering experience, including design of large‑scale civil systems, transportation networks, water treatment systems, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering codes, standards, regulatory requirements, documentation practices, and quality assurance expectations.
  • Experience leading complex project documentation, construction administration, field inspections, client coordination, and agency review processes.
  • Proficiency with standard technology tools, search engines, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to balance stakeholder needs, make sound decisions, improve work processes, and mentor developing engineering staff.
