The City of Rancho Cucamonga’s Engineering Services Department is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead technical expertise, support Associate and Assistant Engineers, and manage complex capital projects across the City’s Major Projects Program (MPP).
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert and resource for the Project Management/Project Delivery Section.
- Collaborate with the Principal Engineer and project teams to deliver design, construction, and installation of public improvements, including street upgrades, storm drainage, railroad crossings, and facility construction.
- Oversee project delivery, including complex project and contract management, cost estimating, constructability review, and strategic planning.
- Prepare and deliver reports to scheduled policy-making bodies and committees, such as the City Council, and maintain reporting for special funding sources.
- Coordinate with other departments, neighboring jurisdictions, and regional agencies to align projects and grant applications with City goals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable codes, laws, regulations, and best practices in civil engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
- Minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional civil engineering experience, including directing the work of others on engineering projects.
- Alternately, a total of eight years of progressive professional civil engineering experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Valid California Civil Engineer registration issued by the California State Board of Registration.
- Valid California driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, methods, project development, design, construction, report preparation, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to plan and coordinate professional and sub‑professional engineering work.
