WSP is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for our Charlotte, North Carolina office, supporting civil design services for power, industrial, and municipal clients across the southeast. Consideration will also be given to candidates in Asheville, NC, and Greensboro, NC.

This role requires strong client interaction, team leadership, and technical expertise. The successful candidate will work on various civil projects such as erosion and sediment control, SPCC plans, hydraulics and hydrology design, civil grading, and landfill design and closure. Responsibilities include overseeing small to medium project teams, executing calculations, designing options, preparing reports, agency reviews, and creating construction drawings. A passion for client engagement and relationship building is essential.

Your Responsibilities

• Manage and lead small to medium project teams
• Develop scope of work and cost estimates for proposals
• Coordinate with senior engineers, junior team members, stakeholders, and other disciplines to ensure organized project execution
• Perform civil engineering tasks including erosion and sediment control design, SPCC plans, site grading with AutoCAD Civil3D, hydraulic systems, hydrologic analyses, and stormwater management
• Prepare permit applications and respond to agency comments
• Create construction drawings and specifications
• Draft client reports and drawings
• Assess design options and analyze cost/benefit
• Mentor and train junior staff
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Travel may be required based on project needs

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• PE license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within a year
• 5-7 years of engineering experience
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
• Willingness to travel to project sites and meetings
• Experience in project management and team leadership
• Proficiency in civil design software and Microsoft Office
• Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and guide junior staff, adhering to QA/QC standards
• Commitment to workplace safety and policy compliance
• Adaptability to changing schedules and priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
