Job summary

Kimley-Horn’s Stuart, FL office is seeking a Civil Design Technician with 6+ years of experience to join our Development Services team. The role focuses on drafting, plan development, and coordination to maintain schedules and quality across projects.

The successful candidate will mentor CAD staff, ensure standards are met, and work with engineers on complex drawings. This on-site role offers benefits and a pathway for professional growth within Kimley-Horn.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred).
• Ability to set up and manage printing/plotting settings.
• Advanced knowledge of Autodesk or Bentley products.
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Willingness to mentor and teach others.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage drafting and plan preparation standards.
• Develop technical drawings and plans.
• Quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and assist with calculations.
• Work with minimal supervision on day-to-day tasks.
• Suggest design changes based on engineering principles.
• Maintain drawing database.
• Supervise and train CAD staff.
• Coordinate work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control.
• Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.
