Job summary

Kaw Valley Engineering is seeking a Civil Engineer to develop and QAQC plans for site development and public improvement projects. You will coordinate daily workflow on studies, reports, calculations, and other design assignments, and mentor less experienced staff.

You will meet with the KVE team, clients, and project stakeholders, applying strong knowledge of municipal engineering, drainage, and utility design to deliver high-quality projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineering License in Kansas or Missouri, or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
• Consulting experience preferred.

Job description

We are looking for a Civil Engineer to develop and QAQC Plans for site development and public improvement projects. The role involves coordinating the daily workflow on assigned projects, including studies, reports, calculations, and other design assignments. The engineer will meet and correspond with the KVE team, clients, and project stakeholders, and mentor and guide less experienced staff.

Experience

• Site planning, grading design, drainage design, erosion control, and stormwater pollution prevention design.
• Utility design including private connections and public storm, sanitary, and water main extensions.

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of the planning process, entitlement rights, traffic engineering, access management, geotechnical engineering, and environmental regulations that may affect residential, commercial, or institutional development projects.
• Ability to work with an internal project team comprising project design engineers, intern engineers, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and drafting technicians to complete deliverables within client schedules and budgets.
• Experience coordinating with planners, architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders outside the organization.
• Experience preparing project budgets, proposals, project management, client invoicing, and client satisfaction initiatives.
• Current or ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License in Kansas or Missouri within 60 days of hire.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Three years of relevant experience managing and navigating the completion of projects.
• Knowledge of municipal engineering policy and procedures is a plus.
