Job summary

Knife River Montana is hiring a General Superintendent in Billings, MT to oversee the construction of heavy civil public and private projects under the direction of the General Manager.

You will supervise superintendents and foremen, develop and manage schedules, monitor costs, review WIP, and report progress to senior management and project owners. The role requires strong leadership and safety adherence.

Qualifications

• 5 years of supervisory experience on heavy civil projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain relationships.
• Effective planning and clear communication to field teams, PMs, agencies, owners.
• Experience tracking costs relative to budget to meet financial goals.
• Ability to prioritize deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Adheres to safety policies and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to work overtime, some nights and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and daily coaching for superintendents and foremen.
• Create and manage project schedules.
• Track and report daily costs.
• Review the WIP.
• Monitor and communicate project progress, identifying concerns, delays or issues to senior managers, agencies and project owners.
• Review daily labor reports and recommend adjustments.
• Manage equipment for appropriate utilization and maintenance.
• Ensure inventory for projects are available and tracked.
• Provide direction to field supervisors for employee relations issues.
• Perform other duties as required.
