Job summary

HDR is recruiting a Senior Civil Construction Inspector to lead field inspections on civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, water facilities and pipelines. You will document observations, mentor staff, and coordinate with Project Managers across Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland sites.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of inspection experience and proficiency in MS Office; active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture is

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; substitutions allowed with 8 years construction inspection experience.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in construction inspection.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.
• Drug and alcohol policy compliance; pre-hire drug screen may be required.
• Sponsorship for US employment is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Civil Construction Inspector, we'll count on you to:

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines
• Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed
• Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses
• Serve as the most senior inspector on projects as needed
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school or Associate degree
• Previous ODOT experience
• Road and bridge construction
• Relevant Industry Certifications
• Ability to interpret construction schedules

Required Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
• A minimum of 5 years experience
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
• Strong written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
