Job summary

Clearfield City seeks a Senior City Planner to lead the planning and zoning division, guiding current and long-range efforts, and coordinating with the City Council, Planning Commission, and other departments. The role requires independent management of complex projects and potential evening meetings.

Responsibilities include developing policies, updating the General Plan, and ensuring compliance with regulations while overseeing staff and contractor work, with a focus on growth and development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in urban planning, public administration, business administration, or related field.
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Must possess a valid Utah State Driver's License and meet MV Policy requirements.
• AICP Certification preferred.
• Experience with municipal planning, development processes, and intergovernmental coordination preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee division decision-making; develop and revise policies to improve efficiency.
• Prepare Planning Commission agendas and staff reports; present matters to Commission and City Council.
• Lead long-range planning; update the General Plan, land use regulations, and design standards.
• Prepare budgets and monitor fiscal activity within constraints.
• Coordinate with departments and agencies; conduct public meetings to gather input.
